Biography
Dr. Bastuba is the founder and medical director of Male Fertility Specialists in San Diego. He is part of the elite group of 2% of board-certified urologists in the U.S. who are specialized in treatments and procedures relating to male fertility. In addition, he also completed advanced training in male and female sexual dysfunction. He is the only board-certified urologist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in San Diego qualified to offer these highly specialized medical services.
A Detroit, Michigan native, Dr. Bastuba attended undergraduate and medical school there before completing general urology training at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, Atlanta, Georgia. He became the first resident physician ever accepted into Boston University School of Medicine's prestigious combined Fellowship program for male fertility and sexual dysfunction before bringing this specialized training to the San Diego area. Dr. Bastuba grew up with a love for automobiles. He works hard to get couples on the fast track to fertility.
Dr. Bastuba has earned numerous academic achievement awards, is board-certified by The American Board of Urology, and is currently a clinical instructor in urology at the University of California-San Diego's School of Medicine. He is a frequent guest lecturer and author, serves as a consulting medical expert for local and national TV, and has published and participated in a number of research studies in his areas of expertise. His professional memberships include the American Urological Association, American Medical Association, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the California Medical Association. He has served as president of both the San Diego Reproductive Endocrine Society and San Diego Urologic Society.

The Male Fertility practice run by Dr. Bastuba provides comprehensive diagnosis of male fertility conditions, including directed history and physical, ultrasound testing, semen analysis with interpretation, testicular cancer screening, hormonal testing and andrology services.
He also offers genetic testing and interpretation, sperm acquisition and storage, treatment for spinal cord injury patients and varicocele evaluation.
